An odd article for a men's salon to write? Maybe. But we get asked this constantly. Partners waiting in the lounge, clients whose other half needs a colourist, people who found our barbers guide and wanted the same thing for women's hair. We are a men's specialist and we do not cut women's hair, which is exactly why we can answer honestly: we have no horse in this race.
So here is the women's side of the town map, built the same way as our barbers guide: who does what well, and who each place suits.
The independents
Flow, on the Pantiles end of town. A ladies-only salon with a strong reputation for colour work: balayage, keratin smoothing and professional extensions alongside cutting. If colour is the main event for you, this is a name you will hear again and again.
The Gallery. One of the town's most established salons, cutting since 1995, with a shelf of industry awards collected along the way. A modern lifestyle salon with the depth of experience that only decades bring.
Hidden Hair, 39 Little Mount Sion. Tucked into the village end of town, a smaller salon with a loyal following, and bookable online through Fresha like most of the modern independents.
LA Hair, Calverley Road. Consistently warm reviews, with clients praising the personal touch as much as the results. A good shout if you want a salon that remembers you.
Natasha Hodges Hair, The Pantiles. An exclusive, appointment-led studio on the town's prettiest street, focused on precision cutting and considered colour. The closest philosophical cousin to how we work, but for women's hair.
The bigger names
GREAT Hair & Beauty, inside Hoopers puts a full salon in the middle of the department store, which makes it the easiest to fold into a day in town. And the national chains are represented too, with Headmasters carrying the familiar high-street offer done to a dependable standard.
How to choose between them
The advice in our guide to choosing a barber translates almost word for word: look for recent reviews that name individual stylists, expect a proper consultation before anyone reaches for scissors or foils, and treat clear pricing as a mark of respect. For colour especially, ask to see work on hair like yours; a colourist's Instagram tells you more than any star rating.
And the men in your life
This is the part where we declare our interest. If the man in your household is overdue the same standard of care, that is precisely what we built: an appointment-only men's salon on Camden Road, 45-minute appointments, consultation first, placed 5th in the UK for Barbershop of the Year 2026. The whole picture is in the barbers guide, ours included, competitors and all.
Tunbridge Wells is genuinely well served for hair, whoever you are. It is one of the nicer things about the town.
What a visit to the salon is actually like.
